GPS – Galileo – GLONASS interoperability revisited
An anonymous Luser writes: "After expressing generally favourable sentiments regarding the recent US Presidential policy on management of the GPS and its augmentations, Glen Gibbons (GPS World) has had a re-think.
Although he stands by his initial opinion, he says that a closer reading of the document merits a few additional comments. The issue is not something included in the policy, but something almost missing from it.
Via Now Shipping Dual-Processor Mini-ITX Board
An anonymous reader writes "Via is now shipping its first dual-processor mini-ITX board. The DP-310 features two 1GHz processors, gigabit Ethernet, support for SATA drives, and a media-processing graphics chipset. It targets high-density applications -- according to Via, a 42-U rack with 168 processors would draw about 2.5 kilowatts, or about as much power as two hair dryers." This also looks like the basis for a nice car computer. Also on the small-computing front, an anonymous reader submits "General Micro, meanwhile, last week released what it calls the world's fastest mini-ITX board, powered by a Pentium M clocked up to 2.3GHz."
It's looking good! :-)
Just got back from going to see the Jeep. Couldn't resist it. I had to go see what the guy was doing. It's almost ready. All he needs to do now is pass cable and get an interface box that transforms the Alpine plug into a pair of RCA's so theres sound. Other than that he's done the frontal piece out of MDF and I must say it looks better than I thought. The downside is I've lost the central air ducts... not really a problem in my case because I usually have the front window ones on and I've still got the side ones. Anyway... enough words, have pictures: (sorry about the quality but all I had was my PDA)

Could Viruses claim the controls of your car?
Here's another Technology Gone Wild story to scare you. Russian anti-virus research firm Kaspersky Lab says you can now add cars to the growing list of things that can be infected with a computer virus. It's not clear whether or not this has ever actually happened, but apparently someone asked Kaspersky Lab if they knew how to cure a virus.
